Field Work Friday

It's #FieldworkFriday

This week kicked off with our larval crab survey and eDNA collection. We have been seeing little larval anchovies in our trap.

We identified one salmon in our juvenile salmon survey this week. There were many juvenile three-spined sticklebacks and juvenile shiner perch. Sometimes we like to check out what grows on the tires on the dock. The little leatherstar was a favourite this week.

Our 2026 BioBlitz kicked off with a walk through John Daly Park, followed by food, displays, and art projects in our tranquility garden. A huge thank you to our youth BioBlitz crew that helped set up for the event!

We have completed a larval crab survey, a European green crab survey, and an invasive species plant pull at Lillies Lake as part of BioBlitz activities. A huge thank you to Pender Harbour Wildlife for joining forces and to Eco-Action for supporting the removal of invasive species from freshwater ecosystems.

Have you joined our BioBlitz? We have two projects currently running until August 11. One is open to all community members, and the other is designed for youth ages 18 and under. There are great prizes for both! We currently have over 300 species identified!
