This week kicked off with many of our programs wrapping up. We are finished with the larval crab surveys and the eDNA collection for European green crab. A huge shout out to Wonbin who came almost every Friday morning, before work, to help us.
We had an incredible 28 people join us on Friday for our last juvenile salmon survey of the year. We identified kelp pipefish, juvenile rockfish and three-spined stickleback. We also looked at creatures that live on and around the dock which included an eighteen scaled worm, a bouquet of sea urchins, and many other invertebrates.
We will continue with our European green crab monitoring next week. There are only a few tides left through September and October that allow for trapping.
Our salmon escapement monitoring has started. Both Anderson and Myers creeks are too low for fish passage at this time but the rains will charge them soon. We have had reports that the salmon are jumping in the estuaries, so we look forward to seeing their progress throughout the season.
