Fieldwork Friday
It's Fieldwork Friday!
This week, we checked our herring curtain for the first time after installation last week. No herring spawn yet… but a variety of shrimp, some snails, and an anemone were found! We are very excited about this project and can't wait for spawning to start! A BIG thanks to our volunteers for supporting this work and learning with us.
On Tuesday, we conducted our monthly water quality monitoring in Anderson Creek. The beaver dam near the estuary has blown out and water is flowing freely now.
We are coming to the end of forage fish monitoring. This week, we sampled Baker Beach and Martin Cove. Baker Beach had one Pacific Sand Lance (PSL) egg, which hatched during processing, and another larval PSL that recently hatched. Martin Cove did not have any PSL eggs identified.
Our volunteer schedule is available from January to April. If you'd like to get involved, email Jenn at jenn@loonfoundation.org.
